Softball Recap: Springfield's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Springfield easily dispatched Leetonia on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Tigers fell just short of the Poland Seminary Bulldogs by a score of 10-8 on Saturday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Brooklyn Chachko was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Chachko was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Chachko wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kensley Schrode, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kaylee Lanterman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Poland Seminary, their record is now 9-7.

Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-9 victory against Mineral Ridge on the 20th. As for Poland Seminary, they are taking a road trip to square off against South Range at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
