Baseball Game Preview: Freehold Township Patriots vs. Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls

The Freehold Township Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Freehold Township's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Point Pleasant Beach's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Freehold Township blew Neptune out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Neptune got their revenge. The Patriots fell just short of the Scarlet Fliers by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Patriots have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Meanwhile, Point Pleasant Beach put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Point Pleasant Boro by a score of 7-3. The seven-run effort marked the Garnet Gulls' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

TOMMY CONROY was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on NOAH BANICK, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. BRODY POWERS also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Point Pleasant Beach hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Point Pleasant Boro struck out ten times.

Point Pleasant Beach pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Freehold Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.

Everything went Freehold Township's way against Point Pleasant Beach when the teams last played back in May of 2016, as Freehold Township made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
