Softball Recap: Mendon Unity Comes Up Short

Mendon Unity extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brown County Hornets. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Mendon Unity saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kassidy Matticks, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

As for Brown County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Brown County's side, Kilyn Oxley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. Oxley has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Mendon Unity wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-2 defeat against Liberty on the 24th. As for Brown County, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Hamilton/Warsaw on the 22nd.
