Basketball Game Preview: Glenvar Highlanders vs. Carroll County Cavaliers

The Glenvar Highlanders will head out on the road to take on the Carroll County Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Glenvar sitting on three straight wins and Carroll County on 16.

On Monday, Glenvar got the win against Patrick County by a conclusive 73-52. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Cougars are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carroll County won against Galax on Saturday with 72 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. Carroll County came out on top against Alleghany by a score of 72-65.

Carroll County pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Glenvar, they are also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Glenvar, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 78-61 loss to Carroll County when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Glenvar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
