Southridge had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Nova Titans 49-0. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 35 points or more this season.
It was another big night for James Perrone, who threw for 285 yards and three TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 92 yards and one score on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (165.2). A healthy portion of Perrone's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Jermain Kelson.
Southridge's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.4 points on average over those games. As for Nova, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Looking ahead, Southridge will look to defend their home field on Friday against Piper at 7:30 p.m. Nova does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
