Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sacopee Valley

Sacopee Valley entered their tilt with Lisbon on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Greyhounds. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by just one run.

Cooper Berkowitz and Owen Barsanti were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Berkowitz tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Barsanti pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Berkowitz earned one run and three stolen bases, while Barsanti went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Donovan Harvey was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Bo Fenderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Sacopee Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Lisbon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Sacopee Valley will face off against Freeport at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lisbon, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Boothbay at 1:00 p.m. on the 16th.
