Softball Recap: Saint James Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

There's no place like home for Saint James, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Prattville Christian Academy Panthers on Tuesday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Emily Needham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sydney Johnston was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Stanford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Saint James pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.3 runs. As for Prattville Christian Academy, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4.

Saint James didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Alexandria on the 17th. As for Prattville Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Montgomery Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on the 25th. Prattville Christian Academy will need to watch out since Montgomery Catholic has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
