Volleyball Recap: The Academy Comes Up Short

The Academy and Windsor Charter Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but The Academy had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Firebirds. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Ava Gallegos paced The Academy's offense, picking up 14 kills. Gallegos got some help from Olivia Luxner and her 24 assists. Gallegos was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Windsor Charter Academy was led to victory by Emma George and Katie Ward. George had nine digs and two aces, while Ward had seven digs and one assist. That's the most aces George has posted since back in October.

The Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Windsor Charter Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

The Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Windsor Charter Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Gunnison on the 8th.
