Basketball Recap: Monroe Central Comes Up Short

If Monroe Central was feeling good fresh off their 75-38 takedown of Blue River Valley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monroe Central Golden Bears took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Castle Trojans on Saturday. While the Golden Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 17-11 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Monroe Central lost, don't look at Easton Foster. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. The game was Foster's eighth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Duncan, who posted eight points.

New Castle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alijah Turner, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Thompson, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
