Softball Recap: Julian Has No Trouble Against Borrego Springs

Julian not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 10th (when they won 21-11). Everything went their way against the Borrego Springs Rams as they made off with a 17-11 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 17-8 victory back in February.

Charlee Sparks was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Lara Arabian was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Julian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 13.4.

The win made it two in a row for Julian and bumps their season record up to 5-9. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Calipatria and 5-8 Borrego Springs. As for Borrego Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Julian will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Vincent Memorial at 3:00 p.m. As for Borrego Springs, they are taking a road trip to face off against Calipatria at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
