Softball Recap: North Haven's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

North Haven had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the East Haven Yellowjackets on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Nighthawks: when they faced off against the Yellowjackets back in April, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Brianna Palmese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Belcher, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Ferriouolo, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

North Haven's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for East Haven, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

North Haven will have a chance to go back-to-back against East Haven: the pair will be back at it again later today.
