Monsignor Martin recap October 22, 2013

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in Monsignor Martin. Earlier in the week, the Marauders defeated St. Mary's 14-9.

Cardinal O'Hara lost to South Park/Middle Early College 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Daryl Moore ran for 57 yards in the loss.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mike McCarthy threw for 82 and 1 touchdown and Alimayu Akono had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Nigel Davis contributed 59 yards. Tyler Hill helped St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 22 yards.

McCarthy put up the best numbers through the air as Dennis Gilbert's team bested the Lancers.

Thanks to the talents of McCarthy and Davis, the Marauders have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. McCarthy is tops in the league in passing with 644 yards, while Davis has rushed for 861 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Cardinal O'Hara's Moore, with 280 yards on 10 catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute takes on Bishop Timon-St. Jude. The Marauders are currently in first, while the Tigers are in fourth.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude led the league in scoring this week by notching 36 points on Williamsville South.
