Basketball Game Preview: Waubay/Summit Mustangs vs. Warner Monarchs

The Waubay/Summit Mustangs will square off against the Warner Monarchs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Warner took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Waubay/Summit, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Waubay/Summit turned things around against Milbank on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-38 victory over the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since January 23, 2025.

Meanwhile, Warner unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Britton-Hecla. The contest marked the Monarchs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Warner's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Waubay/Summit, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Waubay/Summit got the 'W' when the teams last played back in January of 2025 against Warner by a conclusive 66-44 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
