Softball Recap: Hardee Drops Season-High Score on Port Charlotte

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hardee). They skirted past the Port Charlotte Pirates 15-14. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sugar Blas and Yareli Duarte did most of the damage at the plate: Blas scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Duarte scored three runs while going 5-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Duarte a new career-high in RBI (three). Marti Edenfield was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Hardee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hardee's record is now 5-12. As for Port Charlotte, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Hardee and Port Charlotte could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Wildcats will challenge Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (347 vs. 109). Meanwhile, Port Charlotte (ranked 355th) will meet North Port (ranked 161st) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
