Baseball Game Preview: Gary Bobcats vs. Chireno Owls

For the first time this season, Gary will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Chireno Owls at 6:30 p.m. Gary's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Chireno's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

It was a proper cat-fight when Gary challenged Beckville on Friday. Gary fell 6-2 to Beckville. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Chireno scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Cushing by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Owls have lost by just one run.

Chireno saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Sanford, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Bubbo Higginbotham also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Even though they lost, Chireno always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Chireno's loss dropped their record down to 2-4-2. As for Gary, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
