Basketball Recap: Mater Biscayne Academy Piles Up the Points Against Laprogresiva Presbyterian

Mater Biscayne Academy extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping them up to 3-3. They blew past the LaProgresiva Presbyterian Knights 70-39. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 51.5 points per game.

Tom Ruben produced another solid performance almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 47.1% field goal percentage. Julian Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Mater Biscayne Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaProgresiva Presbyterian only posted one.

As for LaProgresiva Presbyterian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, LaProgresiva Presbyterian had strong showings from Bryan Quezada, who posted 12 points and six boards, and Jonathan Morales, who earned 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Perozo, who scored five points.

Coming up, Mater Biscayne Academy will venture away from home to face off against Franklin Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for LaProgresiva Presbyterian, they will be home for the holidays to greet Redland Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
