Basketball Recap: Atlantic Coast Gets the Win

Atlantic Coast proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 23) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They pulled ahead with a 72-71 photo finish over the San Jose Prep Storm. For the Stingrays, this counts as revenge for the 57-33 win the Storm walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Joel Barnaby, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Doe, who shot 63% from the field en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Atlantic Coast was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jose Prep only posted seven.

San Jose Prep's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Denoris Young, who went 9-for-15 on his way to 25 points and five steals. Ja'Sim Rice was another key player, putting up 22 points.

Atlantic Coast's record is now 2-0.

Atlantic Coast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-40 victory against Flagler Palm Coast on the 22nd. As for San Jose Prep, they will be taking part in a tournament against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 3:30 p.m. on the 29th.
