Softball Game Preview: Laker Lakers vs. Glenn Bobcats

The Laker Lakers will venture away from home to square off against the Glenn Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Laker was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Caro. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lakers have posted against the Tigers since May 8, 2017.

Madelyn Warneck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ellee Armbruster was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylynn Witt, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Glenn was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Tawas Area by a score of 10-7.

The team relied heavily on Hadley Keister, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kate Cataline was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Glenn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tawas Area only posted a batting average of .083.

Glenn's record now sits at 11-9. As for Laker, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.
