Softball Recap: St. James Tigers vs. Cuba Wildcats
St. James took care of business in their home opener on Monday (and then some). They were the clear victor by a 19-8 margin over the Cuba Wildcats. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
St. James let Raegan Witt and Baylee Jones loose on the outfield. Witt scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Jones scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisa Bierman, who scored four runs while going 4-for-5.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, St. James was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuba only posted a batting average of .286.
Cuba is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
St. James will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge St. Clair at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. James is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Cuba, they will square off against Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
