Basketball Game Preview: Stringer Red Devils vs. Sylva Bay Academy Saints

Stringer hasn't had much luck against Sylva Bay Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will square off against the Saints at 6:00 p.m. Stringer will be strutting in after a victory while Sylva Bay Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Stringer didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Clarkdale, but they still walked away with a 33-29 win. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Sylva Bay Academy came up short against Newton County Academy on Tuesday and fell 36-27. The loss was the Saints' first of the season.

Stringer will need to focus on slowing down Livy Shumock, one of several Sylva Bay Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She posted three points and 15 boards. Shumock is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kynlee Bennett, who earned nine points and six boards.

Stringer now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Sylva Bay Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Stringer might still be hurting after the 48-22 defeat they got from Sylva Bay Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Red Devils were down 29-9.
