Recap: Southwest DeKalb Panthers vs. Griffin Bears
The Southwest DeKalb Panthers waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Griffin with a 54-49 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southwest DeKalb also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2019.
Despite the loss, Griffin saw an underclassman step up: Naima Foster dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Foster is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camiya Starks, who scored 12 points.
Southwest DeKalb has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Griffin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.
Southwest DeKalb will head out on the road to face off against Westminster at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westminster is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Griffin, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Howard at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Howard is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
