Basketball Recap: Brighton Comes Up Short

Brighton and Clearfield squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Brighton had to settle for second. They fell 66-57 to the Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-30 back in November of 2025.

When it comes to explaining why Brighton lost, don't look at Sophie Nielsen. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 33 points and 11 rebounds. Nielsen's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Addie Evans, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points and three steals.

It was another big night for Isabelle Wyaskett, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 steals for Clearfield. That's the most points Wyaskett has posted since back in February of 2025. Ciara De La O was another key player, shooting 43% from the field en route to 16 points.

Brighton's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Clearfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Brighton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clearfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 45-42 loss against Wasatch on the 19th.
