Softball Recap: Bagdad Takes a Loss

Bagdad fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Anthem Prep on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The contest marked the Sultans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Tatum Jeans spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, Bagdad saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bria Moseley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Bagdad's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 13-6. As for Anthem Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Bagdad does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Anthem Prep, they will face off against Maryvale Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Eagles' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Matador have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
