Softball Recap: Cedarcrest Wins Going Away Against Bellevue

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedarcrest). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bellevue Wolverines a 23-0 shutout on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Red Wolves with their most commanding win of the season.

Lily Rafferty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Rafferty was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Josie Fiala was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Paityn Craig, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Cedarcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue only posted an OBP of .062.

The victory made it two in a row for Cedarcrest and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Bellevue, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Cedarcrest will challenge Woodinville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedarcrest's pitchers better be ready for this one: Woodinville has averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Bellevue, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Inglemoor at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
