Matawan Regional dropped their record down to 7-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 15-6 to the Colts Neck Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Huskies have suffered since April 16th.

Sienna Cali and Maddie DeChristopher did some serious damage despite the final result: Cali got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one double, while DeChristopher went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Izzy Weimer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

As for Colts Neck, the victory got them back to even at 6-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Colts Neck's side, Angela Sasso made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Sasso has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Colts Neck got a massive performance out of Jillian Heyser, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-6. Those two home runs gave Heyser a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Rizzo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Coming up, Matawan Regional will take on Point Pleasant Boro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Colts Neck, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Howell at 4:00 p.m.
