Basketball Recap: Selinsgrove Falls Despite Big Games from Xaivier Jackson and Gavin Bastian

Selinsgrove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southern Columbia Area Tigers. The Seals were probably out for revenge after losing 53-32 to them when the teams met back in February of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Selinsgrove had strong showings from Gavin Bastian, who posted 15 points, and Xaivier Jackson, who put up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jace Diehl, who had seven points.

Selinsgrove's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Southern Columbia Area, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Selinsgrove will host Mifflinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Selinsgrove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Southern Columbia Area, they will head out on the road to square off against Lewisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
