Basketball Game Preview: Colchester Lakers vs. Vergennes Commodores

The Colchester Lakers will head out on the road to challenge the Vergennes Commodores at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Colchester will be strutting in after a win while Vergennes will be coming in after a loss.

Colchester took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 victory over Milton. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lakers have posted against the Yellowjackets since February 22, 2019.

Meanwhile, Vergennes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 55-48 to Otter Valley.

Vergennes now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Colchester, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Everything went Colchester's way against Vergennes in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Colchester made off with a 50-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colchester since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
