Baseball Game Preview: Center Moriches Red Devils vs. Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms

For the second straight game, Center Moriches will face off against Bayport-Blue Point. The Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Phantoms at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Center Moriches 3.3, Bayport-Blue Point 0.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Center Moriches' usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Bayport-Blue Point hitters got past them. The Red Devils lost 10-0 to the Phantoms on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Red Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Bayport-Blue Point's part, Cooper Fuller made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Fuller was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since April 4th.

In other batting news, Sam DeVore was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Guytano Kiesel, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

With the defeat, Center Moriches broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3. As for Bayport-Blue Point, the win keeps they at an undefeated 15-0.
