Baseball Recap: Northwest Comes Up Short

Northwest extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 9-11. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Goddard Lions. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Goddard, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.25 runs across that stretch.

For Goddard's part, Northwest's batters probably weren't too happy with Lincoln Jensen, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up two walks). Jensen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kane Dunlavy was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Mruk, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Northwest has already played their next contest (against South), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Goddard, they are taking a road trip to take on Arkansas City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
