Football Game Preview: Maple Heights Mustangs vs. Chardon Hilltoppers

The Maple Heights Mustangs will challenge the Chardon Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Maple Heights was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Gilmour Academy on Friday. The Mustangs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lancers 52-24. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Chardon made easy work of Kenston on Friday and carried off a 34-13 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Hilltoppers just coasted through the last quarter.

Maple Heights is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games. As for Chardon, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
