Baseball Game Preview: Landstown Eagles vs. Cox Falcons

Landstown hasn't had much luck against Cox recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Landstown was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Green Run on Tuesday. The Eagles never let the Stallions get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won six in a row.

Landstown got a great performance from Ethan Palmatory as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Palmatory a new career-high.

At the plate, Andy Cruz was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Ben Chevalier also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Landstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Run only posted an OBP of .222.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cox, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Tallwood on Thursday as they made off with a 6-0 win.

Landstown now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Cox, their record is now 6-1.

Landstown came up short against Cox when the teams last played back in March, falling 5-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
