Basketball Game Preview: Mesa Vista Trojans vs. Mora Rangers/Rangerettes

The Mesa Vista Trojans will head out to square off against the Mora Rangers/Rangerettes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mesa Vista's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Last Saturday, Mesa Vista got the win against Penasco by a conclusive 68-46. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Panthers are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mora hadn't done well against Escalante recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Mora snuck past Escalante with a 33-27 victory.

Mesa Vista has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Mora, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Mesa Vista was able to grind out a solid victory over Mora in their previous meeting back in January, winning 42-33. Will Mesa Vista repeat their success, or does Mora have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
