Softball Preview: Breckenridge Huskies vs. Vestaburg Wolverines        
        
		
            The Breckenridge Huskies will venture away from home to  square off against the Vestaburg Wolverines  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Breckenridge has given up an average of 6.8  runs per game this season, but Monday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Breckenridge's last matchup with Alma could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's  match on Friday. The Huskies lost  13-3 to the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest  defeat the Huskies have suffered  since April 19th.
 Breckenridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Lydia Slavik, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs and two  doubles.
Meanwhile, Vestaburg entered their tilt with Belding on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by  an  8-2 margin over the Black Knights. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six  runs or more this season.
 Addison Neelis was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 18 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   four  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted  over her last seven  games. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with one  run and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Megan Beetley was  excellent,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.  Emma Myers was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  stolen base.
 Vestaburg's record now sits at 19-3. As for Breckenridge,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 11-11.
 Breckenridge suffered a grim  12-1 defeat to Vestaburg  in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
