The Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 21-19 win over the West Ridge Wolves on Friday. Given the Fighting Cyclones' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Wolves are ranked 127th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elizabethton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rhett Slagle led the charge by throwing for 214 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground. Justin Whitehead was Slagle's top target, picking up 53 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
