Baseball Recap: Chapman Comes Up Short

Chapman extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 11-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Marys Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Thursday.

Chapman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jed Moody, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for St. Marys, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch.

On St. Marys' side, the result came thanks to Killian McCann's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. McCann also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Bears are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 9-12-1 otherwise.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapman will take on Wamego at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Marys, they will be playing in front of their home fans against El Dorado on Tuesday. The last four games the Wildcats have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
