Softball Recap: Billings West Makes It 11 in a Row at Home

On Saturday Billings West's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Russell Rustlers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Bears also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Kylee King spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylie Watt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgia Egge, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Billings West pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Russell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Billings West and Russell will both be playing Belgrade the next time they take the field. The Golden Bears will head out to face the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rustlers will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
