Basketball Game Preview: Northwood Gators vs. LaSalle Tigers

Northwood is 9-1 against LaSalle since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Northwood Gators will take on the LaSalle Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Northwood is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, Northwood beat Montgomery 49-42.

Northwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Tinsley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Tinsley has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Jahari Mccoy was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, LaSalle had to suffer through a 88-31 loss at the hands of Lakeview. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Gators are ranked 49th).

Northwood pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for LaSalle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Northwood against LaSalle in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 58-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
