Soccer Game Preview: Wake Forest vs. Heritage

Wake Forest hasn't had much luck against Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Huskies at 6:15 p.m. Wake Forest is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Wednesday, Wake Forest needed a bit of extra time to put away Wakefield. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Wolverines. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Wake Forest's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Wakefield are ranked 75th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They never let Knightdale get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory last Wednesday. The result kept Heritage happy, as they haven't lost a game since March 10th.

Wake Forest's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five contests. As for Heritage, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-1-4 record this season.
