Basketball Recap: Wilkes Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Iredell + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilkes Central). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the West Iredell Warriors on Friday, sneaking past 67-64. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Warriors two weeks ago, they had to take a 57-55 loss.

Wilkes Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Parks out in front who went 9-for-17 en route to 24 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Those 24 points gave Parks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Barrett, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.

Despite the defeat, West Iredell had strong showings from Amario Spence, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds, and Austin Bailey, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 17 points. Bailey is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Holden Hinson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Wilkes Central and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for West Iredell, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilkes Central will square off against Hibriten at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Iredell, they will take on Foard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
