Baseball Recap: Thornton Fractional South Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Thornton Fractional South was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Hillcrest Hawks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Wolves considering their one-run performance the match before.

Juan Lozano made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Thornton Fractional South is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-17-1 otherwise. Lozano was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Sims, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Thornton Fractional South pushed their record up to 10-18-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
