Volleyball Recap: Maywood Academy Comes Up Short

Maywood Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Marquez Gladiators, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Nighthawks of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-9.

Maywood Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Marquez, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Maywood Academy will challenge Elizabeth at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marquez, they will square off against Sotomayor at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
