Basketball Game Preview: Mid-Missouri HomeSchool Mavericks vs. Gateway Legacy Christian Academy Lions

The Mid-Missouri HomeSchool Mavericks are taking a road trip to face off against the Gateway Legacy Christian Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mid-Missouri HomeSchool has 11 straight wins, Gateway Legacy Christian Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Mid-Missouri HomeSchool is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Rolla HomeSchool: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mid-Missouri HomeSchool blew Rolla HomeSchool out of the water with a 66-34 final score. The Mavericks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kyle Aulgur, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Hayes, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and six steals.

Meanwhile, Gateway Legacy Christian Academy played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Sikeston, falling 70-44. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 12th).

Mid-Missouri HomeSchool has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Gateway Legacy Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Mid-Missouri HomeSchool came up short against Gateway Legacy Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 55-47. Can Mid-Missouri HomeSchool avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
