League recap: Mater Dei runs winning streak to seven

Mater Dei (24-5, 13-2) is riding a league-best 7-game winning streak. In the past week, the Monarchs won another two games, including a 6-5 victory over Temecula Valley and a 5-2 win over Esperanza. Ty Moore led the lineup this week with three hits and three RBIs.

Orange Lutheran currently sits at the top of the league with a mark of 23-6 overall and 14-1 in the league. The Monarchs are in second place, one game behind with a 13-2 record in league play.

Mater Dei boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. On the season, the Monarchs have allowed just 184 hits, while striking out 173 batters. Moore leads the Monarchs with 71 strikeouts in 66 innings pitched.
