Softball Game Preview: Plainfield North Tigers vs. Oswego Panthers

Plainfield North is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out to take on the Oswego Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Plainfield North has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Plainfield North came up short against Lemont on Saturday, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, Oswego strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Lincoln-Way West.

Jaelynn Anthony spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Adalynn Fugitt was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhiana Martinez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Fugitt wasn't the only one making solid contact: Oswego kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Oswego pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Plainfield North, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
