Basketball Preview: Lakeland Christian Vikings vs. Fort Meade Miners

Lakeland Christian is 8-2 against the Miners since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lakeland Christian Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Fort Meade Miners at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

In what's become a running theme this season, Lakeland Christian gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 68-48 margin over All Saints' Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lakeland Christian.

Meanwhile, Fort Meade had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-49 win over DeSoto County.

Fort Meade found their leader in underclassman Omari Russell, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasier Berrien, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Lakeland Christian's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Fort Meade, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Everything went Lakeland Christian's way against the Miners when the teams last played two weeks ago as the Vikings made off with a 73-50 victory. Does Lakeland Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Miners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
