Basketball Recap: Dr. Phillips Comes Up Short

If Dr. Phillips was riding high fresh off their 71-46 takedown of Lake Region last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dr. Phillips Panthers were outmatched by the Winter Park Wildcats and fell 78-50. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Wildcats are ranked 92nd).

Dr. Phillips has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Winter Park, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dr. Phillips won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dr. Phillips is facing Jones at the right time seeing as Jones is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Winter Park, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Winter Park Wildcats duke it out with the University Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Winter Park has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three contests.
