Sterling is a perfect 4-0 against Bennett since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Sterling will host Bennett at 1:00 p.m. Sterling is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Sterling needed a bit of extra time to put away Eaton. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Reds. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Reds since March 26, 2019.
Dayten DiOrio and Ethan Felzien were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, DiOrio pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Felzien pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. DiOrio has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, DiOrio got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Felzien went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bennett never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Middle Park. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Like Sterling, Bennett also got a great game from a two-way player: Brody Hawes. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Hawes also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bennett is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Hawes was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Ben Mathis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with six stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Avant Dickens was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Bennett hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Sterling pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Bennett, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Sterling was able to grind out a solid victory over Bennett when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 13-8. Does Sterling have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bennett turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
