There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Torrey Pines's senior Mac Bingham, who scored eight total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Welcome
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Monterey Trail last week (their 7th in a row). It put the hurt on Laguna Creek with a conclusive 62 - 0 victory. Monterey Trail found its leader in an underclassman: Prophet Brown rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players. Thanks to its success, Monterey Trail cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
Torrey Pines's 71 - 41 win over Oceanside last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Mac Bingham. Bingham earned eight touchdowns and 303 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Bingham among the top power-ranked players for the week.
Movin on Up
Given its edge in the MaxPreps national rankings, a win looked likely for Notre Dame (SO) in its matchup against Alemany. The team got that and then some. Notre Dame (SO) took its game against Alemany by a confident 54 - 21 score. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Christian Grubb, who ran for 172 yards and also punched in five touchdowns. Notre Dame (SO)'s success was rewarded with a 11-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Orange Lutheran (11th in the power rankings) and Mater Dei (2nd). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (420 for Mater Dei and 494 for Orange Lutheran), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
