Basketball Recap: Cullman Comes Up Short

Cullman has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Dutchtown Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 56-34. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bearcats came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Alabama, while the Bulldogs are ranked 70th in Georgia).

Cullman's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Dutchtown, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Cullman will be home for the holidays to greet Pike Road at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Cullman has won four straight at home, while Pike Road won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Dutchtown and Lanier will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dutchtown is facing Lanier at the right time seeing as Lanier is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
