Softball Recap: Yough Triumphs

While Yough's win against Deer Lakes wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 29th.

Not much got past Jaidyn Vay, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Deer Lakes off the board. Vay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Yough hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Yough's record now sits at 10-5. As for Deer Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Yough will be playing in front of their home fans against Ligonier Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.56 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Deer Lakes, they will face off against Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
